The Lawn armyworm (Spodoptera mauritia) affects lawns all across Australia from golf courses, recreational areas to domestic backyards. According to The Chronicle newspaper, the armyworm is the biggest problem for lawns in the town of Toowoomba[1]. For those who have never experienced or seen the damage caused by these creepy crawlies, they leave behind a trail of brown or yellow patches on nice green grass. To help resolve this problem, Bioglobal is launching its latest integrated pest management product ‘JUGGERNAUT’.
Juggernaut is a powerful formulation that works by controlling the release of insect kairomones attractants to Attract and Kill adult moth pests. Juggernaut’s green colour provides selective control and customers can be assured that non-target insects, such as bees and beneficials, will remain unharmed.
Juggernaut is designed to be applied at the first sign of moth flight. Monitoring is essential. This can be done by using monitoring traps and crop scouting for adult moths. Once the adult moth pests comes into contact with Juggernaut (mixed with fast-acting adulticidal insecticide) it is killed instantaneously, putting an end to up to 1500 eggs being laid per female moth.
Applied in bands around crop perimeters and at 50 to 100 metre row crop intervals, Juggernaut is a scientifically-proven to be effective in the management of:
- Lawn armyworm in turf and recreational areas;
- Heliothis, Native budworms, Armyworms and Cutworms which are key pests in vegetables such as celery, lettuce, sweet corn, beans, peas and other vegetable crops.
- Cucumber moths in cucurbits including watermelon, honeydew and rockmelon.
Juggernaut’s powerful attraction technology allows crop producers to dramatically reduce on-farm insecticide application meaning that 98% to 99% of the crop receives no insecticide at all.
