Bioglobal has recommenced the supply of the Beetlejuice product after being granted a Minor Use Permit from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). Bioglobal, as the permit holder, will supply the product direct to growers for the monitoring of Carpophilus beetles in peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, cherries, apples, pears, nashi and berry fruit. The use of the product is restricted to beetle population monitoring only and corresponding monitoring application rates on-farm apply. Bioglobal will now supply more convenient pack sizes for monitoring purposes which will assist fruit growers in complying with the minor use permit.
For growers who do need the full Beetlejuice kit they can now purchase it as:
Beetlejuice Attract’em Kit – containing: 2 Traps and trap components + 2L Beetlejuice A + Fridge Pack containing: 20ml Beetlejuice B and 8 Beetlejuice Pheromone lures.
For growers who already have the Beetlejuice traps and want to purchase attractant refills only they can now purchase it as:
Beetlejuice Refill Pack – containing: 2L Beetlejuice A + Fridge Pack containing 20ml Beetlejuice B and 8 Beetlejuice Pheromone lures.
These product configurations will remain in place until APVMA product registration is granted. In 2010, Bioglobal submitted a complete application for product registration to the APVMA. Registration is expected in 2012 where it is expected that the product will recommence distribution through normal distribution channels.
Bioglobal’s Beetlejuice product was initially developed by the Victorian Department of Primary Industries and is scientifically proven to effectively control Carpophilus beetle populations in stone fruit and berries with minimal use of cover-spray and withholding periods. More information about Beetlejuice can be found on our products page.
